Cape Cod August 2015

This summer I got sick during our annual vacation in Cape Cod.  My family has rented this same house virtually every summer since 1972.  Many of the towels, sheets, and furniture are the same since my childhood.  The way the sun creates these patches of light at different times of the day throughout the house is also deeply familiar.  Confined to the house for much of the stay, recuperating from illness, I began to photograph the outdoors, indoors -- the sun coming from outside in small sections.

For their engagement shoot, Khalid wanted an "urban fairytale" vibe, which I love.  They live in Harlem so we met on 125th street and wandered around, looking for good light, and embracing the gritty backgrounds.  I love it and can't wait to photograph their wedding in Montego Bay, Jamaica in September!
